International Wastewater Process Engineer

NIRAS is currently looking for an International Wastewater Process Engineer for one ADB-funded project in Laos PDR.
The objective of the assignment is to assess the baseline performance of the provincial nam papas (provincial water utilities, or PNPs) against key financial and operational performance indicators and to develop regulatory planning tools that will:
(i) Improve the technical capacity of the DWS and the PNPs in understanding how to manage and operate water supply and sanitation assets efficiently and how to identify and include climate change impacts on operation and maintenance (O&M)
services.
(ii) Promote and improve financial management, asset management, nonrevenue water (NRW) management, and proactive O&M of water supply and sanitation services.
(iii) Guide the development of a sustainable and resilient water supply and sanitation sector.

Scope of Services under this project

Output 1: Regulatory environment of the water supply and sanitation sector improved.
Output 2: Institutional and technical capacity enhanced.

Qualifications required

Only the experts meeting the set criteria will be shortlisted and contacted.

Master's or Bachelor's Degree in the relevant field. At least 10 years experience in wastewater design, engineering and management, including process designs for various wastewater collection and treatment alternatives. Experience working in developing countries is essential.

Professional experience required

Professional Experience Required for International Wastewater Process Engineer Position:

Wastewater Management Practices: Extensive experience in reviewing and analyzing current practices in wastewater management, particularly in Southeast Asia or similar regional contexts, to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Effluent Standards and Treatment Technologies: Proven expertise in assessing effluent standards, evaluating wastewater treatment processes, and identifying appropriate technologies, including a focus on operation and maintenance requirements.

Process Flow Diagram Development: Skilled in assisting with the development of indicative process flow diagrams for integration into technical guidelines, ensuring clarity and effectiveness for design purposes.

Technical Guidelines and Design Criteria Development: Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive technical guidelines for wastewater system design and management, including establishing robust design criteria.

Capacity Development and Sector Framework Support: Strong ability to contribute to capacity development programs, promoting the adoption of water supply and sanitation sector frameworks and technical guidelines to support sustainable infrastructure development.
