Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety Specialist (National)

NIRAS is currently looking for a National Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, and a team of Senior Experts for the consultancy opportunity in the area of drinking water supply development in Batken, Jalal-Abad, Osh and Issyk-Kul regions of the Kyrgyz Republic. The objective of the project is to (i) increase access to climate-resilient water services in selected river basins; and (ii) strengthen institutional capacity for climate-resilient water management at local and national levels.
The scope of services is divided into three phases:
• Phase 1. Development of detailed design and procurement assistance.
• Phase 2. Construction, Supervision and Maintenance period.

Qualifications required

Only the experts meeting the set criteria will be shortlisted and contacted.

• The environmental safeguard specialist must have higher education (Master's degree) in environmental protection, sanitation or similar subjects
• Must have knowledge of national legislation in the field of environmental protection.

Professional experience required

• Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting social assessments to develop large scale sanitation and water systems projects with IFIs and/or a minimum of 3 completed projects within the last 5 years.
• Candidate should have full knowledge local legislation, including land acquisition, compensation, etc., and IFI standards, guidelines, procedures and policies/directives (knowledge of WB, ADB standards will be considered an advantage).
• Experience in Central Asia and/or CIS region will be an advent

12 man-month input over 30 months (Phase II)
